Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which has been incredibly popular since being released, just got an update for the Nintendo Switch. A few tweaks were made in the patch, but in truth only one of them is getting any attention. That's because an offensive gesture has been removed from the game.
Now, don't get Nintendo wrong. They didn't include a vulgar gesture intentionally. It's not like Mario is flipping double birds at people. Inkling Girl now throws a fist in the air out of excitement and enthusiasm.
Nothing to see there out of the ordinary. That's how it looks now. Before, though, Inkling Girl rested her hand on her bicep while raising her fist.
This gesture is familiar to anybody who has ever watched a movie featuring an Italian stereotype. It seems to be the European equivalent of the middle finger.
Obviously, in Japan this gesture is not used. It's kind of like how you should never make an "OK" sign down in South America. Mistakes were made, but now they have been fixed. Inkling Girl is now pure as the driven snow once more.
